Rabi Paddy Procurement

State government has decided to give farmers more time to register for selling their rabi paddy at the minimum support price. The last date for registration has been extended by a week, now ending on March 27, 2024.

The registration process began on March 1 and was initially set to close on March 20. However, after requests from farmers, the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare department extended the deadline. Just like last year, the government plans to buy rabi paddy from farmers in 17 districts: Balasore, Bargarh, Balangir, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Khurda, Koraput, Mayurbhanj, Nabarngpur, Nuapada, Puri, Raygada, Sambalpur, and Subarnapur. The buying process will start on May 1 and continue till June 30, 2024.

Farmers must register online to sell their surplus paddy through the decentralised procurement system. Those who registered for the rabi season of the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2022-23 need to renew their registration unless they are not making any changes to their irrigated land details. For new registrations, farmers need to provide copies of their land ownership records, bank passbook, and Aadhaar card. Sharecroppers must also submit a consent letter from their landlords along with the registration form. The verification of land and bank details will be carried out at cooperative societies authorized for paddy procurement.

The state government aims to buy 14 lakh tonnes of paddy during the rabi season.
