Amit Shah Talks About BJP’s Possible Electoral Alliance with BJD in Odisha

Union Home Minister and Senior BJP leader Amit Shah has revealed that the BJP is still undecided about forming an electoral alliance with the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha. Shah made these comments at the News18 Rising Bharat Summit in New Delhi.

BJP to Win More Seats in Odisha

Shah stated that the BJP leadership is yet to take a final decision on the matter, but he expressed confidence that the party will win more Lok Sabha and Assembly seats in Odisha this time around.

BJP or BJD to Lead the Alliance

When asked if the BJP will form the next government in Odisha, Shah stated that if the BJP and BJD form an alliance, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would lead the alliance in Odisha. However, if the BJP contests the Assembly elections independently, the party will aim to form the next government in Odisha.

Supporting Policies for the Benefit of the Country

Shah also addressed a statement made by 5T Chairman VK Pandian at the News18 Rising Bharat Summit, where he claimed that the BJD does not need the BJP to form a government in Odisha and that the BJP may not need the BJP to form a government at the Centre. Shah responded by saying that the beauty of democracy is that the Opposition does not always oppose the government’s policies. Instead, they support policies that benefit the country and its people. Shah noted that the BJD has given issue-based support to the BJP from time to time, which shows that alliances are not always formed solely for electoral gains.
