MP Prasanna Acharya, a member of the Rajya Sabha from BJD, was seriously injured in a car accident near Beladahi, Redhakhol. His condition is reported to be critical, and he is currently undergoing intensive medical treatment at a private hospital in Sambalpur.
The collision occurred late last night when NH 55, the Sambalpur-Redhakhol road, saw Acharya’s car collide with a gas tanker. Sources mentioned that the Private Security Officer (PSO) of the Rajya Sabha member is also in serious condition, while the car driver sustained minor injuries.
Reportedly, the accident happened as Acharya was traveling from Bhubaneswar to Bargarh. The police have taken the truck driver into custody for questioning, and further investigation is underway.
Given the serious condition of the Rajya Sabha member, preparations are being made to airlift him for advanced medical care.
