Kalyani Steel Limited Signs MOU with Odisha Government

Odisha as Kalyani Steel Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the state government to establish a manufacturing unit for defense equipment and aircraft parts. The agreement was signed on Friday in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Lok Seva Bhavan Convention Hall.

The project will be located in the Gajmara district of Dhenkanal. An area of 1100 acres has been earmarked for this project. Work on the project is set to begin from September next year, with production starting within 24 months. The investment will be carried out in two phases.

In the first phase, an investment of Rs 11,750 crores will be made, creating job opportunities for 10,000 individuals. This factory, set to be established in Odisha, will be the first of its kind in Eastern India.

After signing the agreement, senior IAS officer and Industry Secretary Hemant Sharma expressed gratitude to the company for choosing Odisha. He mentioned that Odisha has abundant raw material storage, making it an ideal choice for the factory. Industry Minister Pratap Keshari Dev praised Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s vision, calling it commendable.

Speaking on the occasion of the agreement with Kalyani Steel Limited, Dev said, “Today is a significant day for all of us. Today, the renowned Indian company Kalyani Steel Limited, known for manufacturing defense equipment, has signed an agreement with our state. This factory will be established in Gajmara, Dhenkanal, marking the first of its kind industry in Odisha. Work is set to commence from September.”
