by Nita Mishra

Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has launched a new mobile application and a special scheme for Mo Bus Card on Friday, aiming to enhance the Mo Bus service with advanced technology and user-friendly features.

The newly launched Mo Bus mobile application is designed with several commuter-friendly features, including:

  • Live bus tracking
  • Estimated time of arrival
  • Real-time bus occupancy
  • Online ticketing & pass purchase
  • Buses nearby

Inaugurating the app, Anu Garg, Development Commissioner-cum-ACS & Chairman CRUT, emphasized, “The improved app aims to make travel easier for commuters, providing them with live bus arrival timings and real-time bus occupancy updates. This will enable citizens to plan their travel more efficiently.”

The ‘CRUT MO BUS’ app is now available on both Android and iOS platforms. Commuters can easily find the most affordable and quickest trip options, along with all bus route details to their destination. Additionally, mobile bus passes can be purchased directly through the app.

In a bid to promote cashless transactions, Garg announced a special offer for the Tap & Pay Mo Bus Card. She stated, “Commuters will receive 40% extra on a top-up of Rs 500 and 50% extra on a top-up of Rs 1000, excluding the card cost of Rs 50.” This limited-time offer will be valid for a month from 01.03.24, initially applicable in the Capital Region and Rourkela.

G Mathi Vathanan, Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department, highlighted, “The new mobile app and Mo Bus card promotion will further encourage digital payments and ensure seamless travel experiences for commuters.”

Commuters can simply tap the Mo Bus card on the ticketing machine with the guide (conductor) to receive their ticket. This method eliminates the hassle of carrying exact change and outstanding dues. The cards can be purchased from the guide on the bus, at the Master Canteen bus terminal, and CRUT office in Patia, Bhubaneswar. In Rourkela, commuters can obtain the card from the Mo Bus counter at the Rourkela bus stand. In Cuttack, passes are available at CNBT. CRUT plans to set up kiosks across the Capital Region and Rourkela for card purchases.

Arun Bothra, Managing Director of CRUT, expressed gratitude to commuters for their continued trust in the Mo Bus service. He stated, “This initiative aims to improve contactless payments and enhance the overall Mo Bus journey, making it more enjoyable and hassle-free, comparable to the best bus services globally.”
