Odisha government has sealed lucrative Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth a staggering Rs 23,389 crore with 11 prominent companies. This significant development unfolded on Friday, igniting a wave of optimism and economic growth for the state.
The slated projects are poised to materialize in the promising districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Sundergarh, promising not just financial prosperity but also the creation of employment opportunities for a substantial workforce—projected to reach an impressive 15,168 individuals.
The formal signing of these transformative MoUs took place at the prestigious Enterprise Odisha Summit held in Jharsuguda. The event witnessed the participation of key state government officials alongside representatives from various influential companies. Among the noteworthy agreements, Epsilon Carbon Private Ltd takes the lead with a groundbreaking proposal of investing Rs 10,000 crore over the next decade. This commitment underscores the company’s long-term vision for fostering economic growth in the region.
Ind Barath Energy Utkal Ltd has also pledged a significant investment, earmarking Rs 6,012.46 crore for the establishment of an 800-MW ultra-super-critical coal-based thermal power plant in Jharsuguda. The strategic selection of Jharsuguda as the location for these mega projects is attributed to the region’s flourishing industrial ecosystem, a skilled labor pool, robust infrastructure, and business-friendly policies. Vikram Handa, the Managing Director of Epsilon Carbon, lauded Jharsuguda as the ideal hub for these ambitious ventures, showcasing confidence in the region’s potential for growth and success.
As Odisha charts this course of economic expansion, these MoUs stand as a testament to the state’s commitment to fostering industrial development, job creation, and sustainable growth.
