by Nita Mishra

CM Naveen Patnaik has announced an increase of ₹500 in the monthly pension for all beneficiaries under the Social Security Scheme. Additionally, beneficiaries of the Madhubabu Pension Scheme and the National Social Assistance Program will now receive a minimum of ₹1,000 per month. This increase will be effective from February onwards, providing much-needed relief to pensioners across the state.

The enhanced pension scheme is a testament to the state government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable sections of society. Under the revised scheme, beneficiaries who were previously receiving ₹700 will now receive ₹1,200, while those receiving ₹900 will now get ₹1,400 per month.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has allocated an annual budget of ₹3,683 crore for the increased pension scheme. During his recent visit to various districts, including that of the 5-T and Navin Odisha’s Chairman, VK Pandian, people from different areas had requested an increase in pension benefits. Responding to these requests, the Chief Minister accepted the plea and raised the social security pension amount.

Moreover, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also expanded the coverage of the Madhubabu Pension Scheme. After an increase of 4.13 lakh beneficiaries last August, the scheme now benefits a total of 36.75 lakh individuals. With an additional 4 lakh beneficiaries included, the scheme continues to reach more vulnerable citizens across the state, providing them with financial support and security.

Conclusion:
The decision to increase the monthly pension demonstrates Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s commitment to improving the welfare of the people of Odisha. By providing higher pension amounts and expanding the coverage of welfare schemes, the government aims to alleviate financial burdens and enhance the quality of life for its citizens.
