According to police officials, Irfan was travelling on a motorcycle with two accomplices with the intent to commit a crime when a Sadar police patrol team intercepted them. The two accomplices were immediately apprehended, while Irfan fled the scene and fired upon the police team.
The police responded with controlled firing in self-defence, resulting in Irfan sustaining a gunshot wound to his left leg. He has been admitted to hospital for treatment.
