Accor has signed a deal for Novotel Sambalpur City Centre, set to open in 2031.

Accor has signed a new project for Novotel Sambalpur City Centre, which is scheduled to open in 2031 in Sambalpur, Odisha.
Located in Sakhipara, a significant commercial area of Sambalpur, the hotel will cater to various guest needs, including business travelers, government delegations, MICE events, social celebrations, and leisure tourists. It will feature 120 guest rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby bar, approximately 1,200 square meters of meeting and banquet space, as well as a swimming pool, spa, and fitness center.
Ranju Alex, Chief Executive Officer of Accor South Asia, noted that this hotel signing underscores the company's focus on expanding in India's Tier II and Tier III cities. "The signing of Novotel Sambalpur City Centre reflects our continued focus on expanding across India’s Tier II and Tier III cities. As regional economic centres continue to grow, we see increasing demand for internationally recognized hospitality brands that serve both business and leisure travellers," Alex said.
Sambalpur has developed into a vital commercial, industrial, and administrative hub in Western Odisha, supported by industries such as mining, power generation, aluminum manufacturing, and infrastructure development. The city's attractions, including the Samaleswari Temple and Hirakud Dam, add to its position as a travel destination. The city has emerged as an important commercial, industrial and administrative centre in Western Odisha, driven by sustained investment in heavy industry and public infrastructure.
Jasbir Singh Hura, Chairman of JAS Group, expressed confidence that the partnership with Accor to introduce the Novotel brand in Sambalpur reflects the region's economic and tourism potential. "Our partnership with Accor to bring the Novotel brand to Sambalpur reflects our confidence in the region’s economic and tourism potential. We believe the hotel will support business travel, conferences, social events and leisure tourism while contributing to the development of the region," Hura said.
Accor currently operates 75 hotels across India and South Asia under brands including Raffles, Fairmont, Sofitel, Pullman, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure, ibis and ibis Styles, with additional properties under development. The new Sambalpur property will mark the group’s continued momentum in strengthening its presence in underserved yet growing urban markets across the country.
