Bill Gates, will come to Odisha on Wednesday. He plans to meet the chief minister, farmers, and successful businesspeople while he’s here. Everyone is getting ready to welcome Gates with a big reception.
In his online journal, Gates talked about his upcoming visit. He mentioned he’s excited to see how technology is helping farmers in Odisha. There’s a special center that uses digital tools to help farmers get advice right away. This center keeps a record of 7.5 million farmers, even if they don’t own land. It also uses a chatbot, a kind of computer program, to give farmers information about their crops. This chatbot can even talk to farmers in their own language!
Gates is also interested in how this center helps farmers deal with pests, like bugs that eat crops. Since 2018, this program has helped millions of farmers reduce crop loss because of pests by 90%. Now, other places like different states in India, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, and even the World Bank want to learn from Odisha’s experience.
Additionally, Gates mentioned he’ll visit a community in Odisha where a government program is teaching women skills to get jobs in construction.
