Valpoi Police arrested two men from Odisha's Kalahandi district after seizing 5.091 kilograms of ganja valued at around Rs 5 lakh near the Pissurlem IDC bypass road at Honda in Sattari Taluka. Acting on specific intelligence, a team from Valpoi Police Station intercepted the suspects and recovered the contraband from backpacks they carried. The arrested are Banshidhar Brahma Hans, 28, and Bikaschandra Sachidanand Hans, 25, residents of Taranja, Tambachhada, Dharamgarh. A case was registered under Crime No. 32/2026 for offences under Sections 20(b)(ii)(B) and 29 of the NDPS Act. Investigators are probing possible distribution in Goa and syndicate involvement.
The operation has highlighted concerns over the presence of narcotics in Sattari Taluka. Police recovered the full 5.091 kilograms of ganja from the possession of the two men.
