Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram on Friday alleged a conspiracy within the Bharatiya Janata Party to defame him and force his removal from the Union cabinet, issuing a stark warning to those he accused of orchestrating a smear campaign against him.
Speaking to reporters at the party office in Bhubaneswar, the six-time MP from Sundargarh said unnamed leaders who joined the BJP from other parties were spending money to plot against him in the belief that his ouster would create opportunities for them. Oram stated he had conveyed the matter to BJP general secretary (organisation) Manas Mohanty and would escalate it to the central leadership if not resolved at the state level.

Oram's statement came a day after Rourkela police arrested Prakash Paswan, identified as his representative, for booking rooms at the Circuit House for seven persons who were subsequently arrested with arms and ammunition.
