• Ranipur-Jharial — a rare hypaethral (roofless) temple to the 64 Yoginis, one of only a handful in India, alongside the Someswar Shiva temple.

Balangir Lok Mahotsav (Dec–Jan) brings together tribal and non-tribal folk performers and craft markets. Nuakhai, Durga Puja & Danda Yatra at Pataneswari, Mahashivratri, Sitalasasthi and Rath Yatra are also major events.

Balangir''s table follows the wider Western Odisha pattern — Pakhala, rice-based staples and seasonal delicacies — with strong tribal influences.

Culture & Crafts

Balangir is renowned for Kosali folk art and dance and is one of the core weaving districts for Sambalpuri cotton and silk textiles. Its royal history is visible in Chalukyan-style temple architecture at Pataneswari and the 12th-century Someswar shrine.
